Maternity Jeans

So, I caved: I bought a pair of maternity jeans. I knew I would have to give in eventually and invest in something stretchy, but I still still felt so guilty while paying for them that I nearly ran out of the shop. We haven’t finished (well, started really) shopping for little one, and we still need to get some essentials (fridge/freezer, washer/dryer etc) for the house, so in comparison my leg comfort seemed pretty low on the priority list. But barely anything fits anymore, so I had to pull on my belly friendly dress & tights and ‘haul-ass’ to the mall.

The jeans that I bought are the MAMA jeans from H&M (http://tinyurl.com/bghblmh). They are a stretch denim in a “low cut” style with a jersey ribbing that sits over the bump & will stretch with you. Because of the low cut style they’re very flattering and you never have to worry about your knickers hanging over the waist line because you’ve got the jersey material coming up a lot higher which I almost wish was a feature in all jeans (no more builders bums EVER.) I paid £29.99 and although that’s super cheap in the world of jeans I still wasn’t sure if I should be buying them. But OH MY GOSH am I glad I did. Wearing them is like being hugged ALL the time, in the best way possible.

I’m still super glad that I didn’t cave and buy any maternity wear until now, but all traces of buyers guilt have completely disappeared. I don’t think I need more than one pair at the moment but I am likely to be living in these until I pop & if I do feel that another pair would make my life easier I would happily part with my cash for a second pair & I would recommend them to anyone.

Pregnancy questions & bump (28 weeks)

This week has been a bit of a blur & I don’t feel like I’ve done anything outstanding, but I do feel really very pregnant. I feel: uncomfortable, heavy, clumsy, and utterly exhausted. Usually if I felt just one of those things I’d be complaining, a lot, but I’m perfectly happy and content: It’s almost as if all of the niggles make the pregnancy more real.
Yesterday was the first day of my third trimester which is both exciting and terrifying – we’re going to start buying the majority of the items we’ll need for ‘little one’ in the next few weeks, so I will be posting blogs showing you what we’ve got. I love that I can share our journey with you & wether it’s just curiosity, bringing back memories, or comparing your own pregnancy that makes you decide to read : I hope that you find these posts interesting & I’d love to hear your stories.
How far along? 28 weeks 1 day
Waist measurement: 35.5 inches (same as last week)
Measurement at belly button: 38 inches (same as last week)
Maternity clothes: Nope, but I’m going bra shopping tomorrow (thank goodness) and I may cave in and buy some maternity jeans while I’m at it.
Stretch marks? None, which may be down to the lack of inch gain. But I’m now in my third trimester which means things go pretty crazy from here on out.
Sleep: What’s that?
Best moment this week: We received our contract through for our house. Somehow that made it all so much more real.
Miss anything? Tummy sleeping. I miss  it so much, side sleeping is not for me.
Movement: Little & often, mostly in the evenings. Baby kicks me in the ribs now, mum says it’s karma for how often I used to do it to her.
Food cravings: I craved mellon. Sort of. It wasn’t an overwhelming need, but i did enjoy it all the same.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Not unless you count George’s curry farts. ha.
Gender: Either a boy or girl I hope… (running out of new answers here)
Labour signs: Nada.
Symptoms: The worlds worst RIB PAIN. On my right side, it is becoming unbearable & apparently will not subside until birth. No sleep for me then.
Belly button in or out? It’s still a funny in-between, I have decided that I will only count it as an outie when I can see it through my t-shirt.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy, but exhausted.
Looking forward to: Being able to “nest” properly. This won’t be for a while, but I can’t help but look forward to it anyway. It’s been odd having nesting instincts but no place to nest.

Pregnancy Questions (26 Weeks)

I’m aiming to do one of these with a bump shot every Sunday, as that’s when it’s “week” + zero days, but as I posted one as my first blog a few days back & there really hasn’t been any change in bump size what so ever I’m not going to include a bump shot with this one. However there is a snap of baby’s first bear, which I think is much cooler..

How far along? 26 Weeks exactly
Maternity clothes: Nope, still none, but my favourite item of clothing is my H&M skater dress, which unfortunately they don’t sell at the moment, but is very similar to Top Shop’s Flippy Maternity Dresses. It’s the perfect shape for a growing bump & I would absolutely buy it if I didn’t already have my H&M one in a few colours. http://tinyurl.com/chma5ej
Stretch marks? Nothing new to report on this either.
Sleep: Has been pretty hit and miss this week. It took me a good few hours to get comfortable last night & I woke up a few times thanks to the wind outside & my overly sensitive hearing (it’s not proven to be a blessing just yet.)
Best moment this week: Mum bought baby it’s first bear while on a shopping trip, it’s adorable. I’m planning on taking a photo with it sitting on bump at some point, I thought that might be a nice image for the books. The Bear is a “Pudge Dangle Bear” from Air Puppy. http://tinyurl.com/ccfe4ph
Miss anything? I would like to be able to dye my hair. I can’t say that’s it’s something I miss, but I am finding it inconvenient that I can’t because it’s looking very brassy & I would prefer to have nice locks for the Christmas photos… never mind hey?
Movement: Still lots, but my dad is yet to feel any. Every time I call him over when baby’s having a moment it stops, the same thing happened with mum initially. It’s an odd one.
Food cravings: No pregnancy cravings, but I am really looking forward to all the Christmas food YAY.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Mince, but that’s been the case for the past few years.
Gender: Still no clue, I wonder if I have to include this question every week. Surely there’s never been a pregnancy where it changes that often…
Labour signs: No, thank goodness.
Symptoms: Dry eyes, I hear this is quite common, especially as I wear contact lenses. It’s not unbearable but it has meant that I’ve been wearing my glasses more often that usual.
Belly button in or out? In, though it popped out after my curry the other night. too much korma.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy, I’ve had one or two tiny freak outs, but I’d actually put that down to Christmas nerves & not hormones.
Looking forward to: Christmas!!! Everything starts today with the festivities, I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR.

End of the world OOTD

So last nights meal was a curry, and I know that I had a fish & chips Wednesday evening, but George’s boss kindly offered to take us out as a very spontaneous (he asked at 6pm, we ate at 9pm) Christmas meal and I’m not one to turn my nose up at free food. Aside from knowing I would be starving by the time our meal was ready, I was also stressing ALOT about what to wear. I also hadn’t any time to do much with my hair or makeup so I wanted something comfortable but cute, so I wouldn’t give myself any more reason to worry about my appearance.

As I mentioned in my first blog post: I own zero maternity clothes. That usually doesn’t matter because my more stretchy clothes (ie leggings and an oversized jumper) are just fine for around the house, or shopping, or a trip to the cinema etc. However, I don’t fit into the clothes that I would usually reserve for a meal, so I felt rather stuck. After rummaging through my pile of clothes I found a pair of low slung jeans, a long pink vest and a cute lace top that if truth be told I’m not sure I’ve ever worn. The outfit itself wasn’t really one that I would usually wear, it’s a little bit on the girly side, but I was so excited to find something that fit over my bump that I didn’t mind.

My point (yes I have one) is that although searching for an outfit in such short notice was a real nightmare, I’m still glad that I have spent my money on Christmas presents and not on clothes that I can only wear for a short period of time. I’m sure that in the next 3 months I will HAVE to give in and go shopping, but I feel really pleased that I’ve made do so far and would recommend anyone going through pregnancy to do the same. With the exception of a good bra… you will HAVE to get a few of those.
